The Noborito Dormitory was founded in 1958 by a biblical scholar, Kokichi Kurosaki (1886-1970), who aims to educate the young generations who will lead Japan's future through the Bible.

The dormitory opened when Kurosaki was 72 years old. The concept of dormitory was strongly influenced by teachings of his teacher Kanzo Uchimura and Inazo Nitobe, and his experience at Selly Oak Colleges in England, where Kurosaki studied at the age of 38.

The path to opening the dormitory was not easy, but with the cooperation and donations of many people who agreed with Kurosaki's vision. The first dormitory master was Yasuyoshi Satomi, a professor of Ferris Jogakuin University.

Since then, over 60 years have passed, succeeding the vision of Kurosaki, over 600 graduate students have been sent to the world. In 2010, the girls dormitory (Arai Memorial Building) was established, and many female students have been accepted.

Every morning before breakfast except Saturday, there is a morning worship with hymn and Bible reading and its related talks by students who are on duty set in advance. This is a long term tradition of our dormitory. On every Sunday morning, the dorm master gives an expository message of Bible altogether about one hour. Sunday bible meeting is scheduled for about 35 times a year which is a joyous obligation for the master. Students are permitted to attend with other meetings and churches on Sunday.
